From the northern shores of the Mediterranean, BARRUT brings the extraordinary power of polyphonic singing to life. Seven voices intertwine with percussion to create a sound that’s both ancient and completely new. Rooted in the traditional music and poetry of Occitania, in southern France, BARRUT performs original compositions in the historic Occitan language. Tradition meets the contemporary, intricate harmonies meet propulsive percussion, and the result is a hypnotic, exhilarating, and timeless sound.
With more than 400 concerts worldwide, BARRUT has earned international recognition, including selection for the Génération Spedidam 2025–27 World Music program.
