From Montana to Congress to Broadway

Live Broadcast Aired January 23rd

A continuation of WMPAC’s relationship with a Broadway-bound musical about one of Montana’s most celebrated historical figures, this unique weekend features a creative sampling from an in-the-works, epic pop musical based on the true story of America’s first Congresswoman, suffrage activist, social worker, and Montanan Jeannette Rankin. WMPAC believes in this story, this show, and we want to show you an in-process glimpse during a unique time.

Written by America’s most produced playwright, Lauren M. Gunderson, and pop sensation Ari Afsar, Jeannette heralds one person’s radical voice in America’s ongoing journey toward equal rights for all. The performances this weekend feature a creative mix of script-in-hand book scenes with an all-star regional cast, hot-off-the-press orchestrations by Grammy and Tony winner Todd Sickafoose (Hadestown), never-before-seen projection design by David Bengali (Ratatouille: the TikTok Musical), and bespoke narrative and musical performances by Ari Afsar and Lauren Gunderson.
