A unique collaboration made special in the time of the COVID-19 Pandemic. With Kronos Quartet participating virtually with high-quality films of pieces from their repertory, and Montana’s renowned Cascade Quartet on stage at WMPAC, celebrate an evening of underrepresented voices in the classical music canon.
For over 45 years, San Francisco’s Kronos Quartet – David Harrington (violin), John Sherba (violin), Hank Dutt (viola), and Sunny Yang (cello) – has pursued a singular artistic vision, combining a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to continually reimagine the string quartet experience. In the process, Kronos has become one of the most celebrated and influential groups of our time,
performing thousands of concerts worldwide, releasing more than 60 recordings of extraordinary breadth and creativity, collaborating with many of the world’s most accomplished composers and performers, and commissioning more than 1,000 works and arrangements for string quartet.
In 1978, the Cascade Quartet was established by the Great Falls Symphony Association to fulfill its mission to bring high-quality leadership to the string section of the orchestra, chamber music performances to the city of Great Falls, and further enrich the cultural experience of its residents. Through the years, the Cascade Quartet travelled hundreds of thousands of miles, performing concerts and bringing outreach and educational opportunities to communities throughout Montana and the Northwest. Their success as string quartet has taken the group beyond the region and attracted renowned artists to Great Falls.
